Have you ever wondered what happens after a person passes away? Whether you believe in an afterlife or not, the story of Valerie Paters, a woman who was declared all but dead but lived, will make you ponder.
A Miraculous Recovery
Valerie’s family was informed of her poor prognosis when she arrived at the hospital. They had low expectations for her survival. To their surprise, Valerie defied all odds. In the face of uncertainty, Cheryl, Valerie’s sister, turned to prayer. She prayed for God to give her sister the strength to pull through, quoting Psalm 118:17, which says, “I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.” Little did Cheryl know that her prayer would lead to an extraordinary experience.
As Valerie fought for her life, her family and the congregation of her church came together in prayer. During this critical time, Valerie had what she describes as a heavenly encounter. She claimed to have visited Heaven, a place filled with a blinding light. When she opened her eyes, she found Jesus himself standing before her, welcoming her with a warm and loving smile.
“I felt an overwhelming sense of emotion that He had for me,” Valerie recalled. “I felt like I was finally home… like I had found my place of belonging.”
Unconditional Love
Valerie further shared her experience, revealing that Jesus’s love for her was unconditional. “He just wants me,” she said. “It wasn’t based on anything I did for Him or any of my accomplishments. It was simply because of who I am. He was not just loving towards me – He was in love with me.”
