McDonald’s New Burger Sparks Customer Outrage

Get ready, America, because McDonald’s is about to introduce a new burger sensation that’s causing quite a stir! Say hello to the “Double Big Mac,” an Australian creation set to hit American McDonald’s restaurants on January 24th. This massive quadruple-patty burger is already sparking reactions that range from curiosity to outright outrage.

Down under, the Double Big Mac has been a beloved staple since March 2020, initially promoted with the catchy tagline “double the fun.” However, as news of its imminent arrival in the United States circulates, some skeptical voices are suggesting it should be rebranded as the “heart attack Mac,” owing to its extravagant size and calorie content.

One incredulous comment reads, “Yes, because we need to pack on more calories, right?” Clearly, concerns about the calorie count of this indulgent burger are on the minds of many. Another witty remark quips, “Are they going to call it the heart attack Mac?” It’s clear that not everyone is thrilled about the arrival of this indulgence.

On the flip side, some are eagerly awaiting the Double Big Mac’s American debut. Despite its hefty 680 calorie count, some brave souls are ready to give it a whirl and savor every decadent bite. One enthusiastic Facebook user confessed, “I’m definitely trying one of those – I’ll feel guilty afterward, but I’m sure I’ll love every minute of it!”

The Double Big Mac has already made its mark in several countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, and Japan. However, one eagle-eyed diner couldn’t help but point out a minor issue – the burger still only comes with one slice of cheese, leaving room for improvement by American standards.

As for the pricing of the Double Big Mac in the US, while it has not been officially announced, it’s expected to hover around $30 AUD. McDonald’s prices in the US have been on an upward trajectory, with a 14 percent hike in the third quarter of 2023. In October, one restaurant dared to charge $27 AUD for a regular Big Mac combo meal, reflecting the overall trend of rising fast-food prices.

McDonald’s has a history of offering “double” options for most of its burgers, including the Double Quarter Pounder, Double McChicken, and the Double Fillet-O-Fish. The Double Big Mac, originally introduced in the US in 2020 for a limited time, became an instant hit with customers due to its generous portions and irresistible flavors.
