Fox News has made television history as ‘The Five,’ a non-primetime program, secured the number one spot in viewership for an entire year, a remarkable feat in the industry. In 2022, Fox News delivered its third-highest-rated year in cable news history for total day viewers, reaffirming its dominance in the ratings.
For the seventh consecutive year, Fox finished as the top cable network in both primetime and total day viewers among basic cable networks. Additionally, it maintained its position as the highest-rated cable news network for the 21st straight year. Data from Nielsen/MRI Fusion showed that Fox News attracted a politically diverse audience, with Democrats, Independents, and Republicans tuning in more than any other network in both total viewers and the younger A25-54 demographic.
‘The Five,’ airing at 5 PM/ET, achieved a historic milestone by becoming cable’s most-watched show in total viewers, surpassing CNN and MSNBC, with 3,432,000 viewers and 465,000 in the A25-54 demographic.
Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott praised the network’s achievements, highlighting their innovative news and opinion programming and their politically diverse audience. The network’s dominance continued with its programs occupying the top spots across various demographics.
