A TikTok user, who goes by the username Water Boy (@waterboy), went on a Tinder date and shared his experience on TikTok. He secretly recorded his date after they had a meal and were required to pay the bill.
In the clip shared on the popular video platform, Water Boy focused the camera on himself before looking at his date, who threw her card on the bill as they had an intense exchange. So far, his post has 6.5 million views, over 135 thousand likes, and close to 45 thousand comments.

The TikToker, leaning on his hand and appearing exasperated, justified to his date that, being their first encounter, he believed it was reasonable to split the bill evenly. The footage then transitioned to Water Boy and his date inside a car, where their discussion unfolded.

The lady brought up the subject of splitting the bill again, as she said in disbelief, “I can’t believe you made us split the bill.” However, Water Boy insisted that he was right, arguing that his date had ordered an appetizer that he didn’t even touch. He wondered why she thought he should pay for that, too.

Upon arrival at the lady’s home, she could be heard shuffling in her seat as she exited the vehicle. Water Boy’s attempts to say goodbye to her were dismissed at first, but eventually, she said “bye,” before slamming the car door and leaving him staring into his camera again.

To Water Boy’s surprise, most people didn’t agree with him. Online users said that his date wasn’t entitled and that Water Boy was wrong to ask her to split the bill. “If you can’t afford to date, then don’t! You split the bill with friends or with people that you have no intention of courting,” a user commented.
More online users concurred, “I would just be glad it happened on the first date. Don’t have to deal with him again,” while another person wrote, “I’ll offer to split the bill to seem polite, but he should pay. There would be no more second date. This guy is ridiculous.”
Water Boy shared a follow-up video on TikTok addressing the comments that told him he should have paid the entire bill because he asked for the date. “It’s not like I’m forcing anybody to want to date with me,” he remarked. The TikToker felt that since everyone is an adult and they agreed to the date, they should contribute to the bill. “We both want to be there equally; therefore, we should split the bill equally,” he added.

Water Boy also explained that if he had paid the entire bill the first time, the lady would have made him carry the financial responsibility of all their dates without ever paying anything. “When does it end?” he lamented. The TikToker, who has over 14 thousand followers, maintained his stand even as many online users disagreed with him.
