Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, who have been married for nearly 30 years, recently shared that they are separating.
In a joint statement with People, the couple said, “We’ve had almost 3 decades together in a wonderful, loving marriage. Now, our journey is changing, and we’ve decided to separate to focus on our individual growth.”
They emphasized that their family is their top priority, with gratitude, love, and kindness guiding their next steps. They asked for understanding and privacy as they navigate this transition in their lives.
The couple, who has two children, Oscar (23) and Ava (18), got married in 1996. They first met in 1995 while filming an Australian TV series called Correlli. Despite an initial hesitation about their 13-year age difference, they got married less than a year after meeting.
In the year 2000, they became parents to a son named Oscar, and in 2005, they welcomed their daughter, Ava.
On their 27th wedding anniversary in April, Hugh Jackman shared a lovely photo of the couple with a heartfelt message to Deborra-Lee Furness.
He wrote, “I love you, Deb. Today marks our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!! I love you so much. Together, we’ve built a beautiful family and life. Your laughter, spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage, and loyalty are incredible gifts to me. I love you with all my heart.”
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have mentioned, “This is the only statement we will make.”
Even before they told everyone about their separation, some people noticed something. Deborra-Lee, who is 67 years old, was spotted in New York City without her wedding ring. This often suggests trouble in a marriage. She was wearing all black, getting into a car, and her wedding ring was not on her finger.
This made people think that something might be wrong. The couple met in 1995 while working on an Australian show called Corelli, and they got married the next year.
