A Reddit user discovered that her husband bathed their son in the sink. She then called him gross before she altogether banned him from bathing their child.
OP didn’t know that people bathed the children in the sink until she came home one day, discovered her husband doing it, and threw a fit. Their argument escalated, and she then turned to Reddit for advice.

On the morning of the incident, OP went out to do some grocery shopping. She explained that in the past, she and her husband would usually split their parenting responsibilities. She handled the more complex tasks, such as feeding, changing diapers, and bathing, while he handled the more straightforward tasks, including cleaning up and rearranging sheets/blankets.

The angry wife called her husband “gross” for trying to bathe their son in the sink and then took the infant away. She then told her husband that it wasn’t his job to bathe him and banned him from ever doing it again, but their argument didn’t stop there.
Her husband called OP “selfish” and “controlling.” In the heat of the moment, the Redditor lashed out at her husband because of his attitude and told him to “stop whining.” At the time she wrote the post, the couple wasn’t on speaking terms.

OP received a lot of backlash from the Reddit community for the way she handled the situation. Most of them thought the husband did nothing wrong and told her that it’s common for kids to bathe in the sink.
“Kids have bathed in sinks forever. What’s the issue here? If it’s clean and his dad is giving him a bath what is your actual problem?” one Reddit user commented. “You can’t gatekeep his parenting like that and fly off the handle.”

A third Redditor called out the OP for believing things are wrong because they aren’t done her way. “My husband is an amazing dad. He handles like 75-80% of the childcare on weekends, because I do so much more during the week. I have to constantly fight the urge to ‘correct’ him, though,” the person shared.

Interestingly, OP wasn’t the only Redditor concerned about bathing kids in the sink. A Reddit user also had reservations about doing it as she was preparing for her baby to arrive.

At the time of the post, the person was 36 weeks pregnant and looking forward to meeting her soon-to-be newborn. The couple had several cats, and she was concerned about her baby bathing in the same bathroom where they kept their litterboxes, so she considered using the sink as an alternative.

The responses to the post were primarily positive. Some community members reassured her that they hadn’t had any negative experiences when they bathed their children in the kitchen sink.
One user claimed that the use of chemicals wouldn’t have any harmful effects on the newborn “as long as they’ve been thoroughly rinsed.” They then referenced their own experience and how their mother used to bathe them in the sink without any problems.

The Reddit user advised her to get rid of the cats before the baby arrived. After going through all of the suggestions, the user edited her original post and added, “For all concerned parties, I am now acting on the cat situation. Wish me luck!”

Several years ago, a Reddit user began an interesting discussion on the platform. They asked the community, “Have you ever washed your baby in the sink?” And the answers were unanimous. Many agreed it was common for parents to bathe their children in the sink. One of the top comments was a person who replied,“I don’t know a single friend of mine that doesn’t have “sink bath” pictures from their baby days. I’ve done it for my girls.”
