A scene from the new Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game has been released and DC fans aren’t happy.
One of Kevin Conroy’s last vocal performances as Bruce Wayne features in the upcoming game.
The late actor was best known for voicing the iconic character in video games and TV shows to critical acclaim since 1992.
Conroy sadly passed away from intestinal cancer in November 2022 at the age of 66.
After the news of his passing was announced, many took to social media to share their tributes, including Star Wars actor Mark Hamill who said: “Kevin was perfection.”
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was originally scheduled for release in 2022 but due to multiple delays, it was pushed back to February 2, 2024. However, it was released early for deluxe edition owners on January 29, 2024.
Warning: Spoilers ahead
YouTuber Dan Allen Gaming uploaded footage of Batman’s final scene in the game to his channel, showing the defeated superhero lying on a bench, bloodied with purple eyes after a confrontation with Harley Quinn.
Underneath the video, he wrote: “Got emotional watching this scene knowing this is the last time we will see Kevin Conroy as Batman. What a Legend… RIP.”
The comment section was bombarded with unhappy fans calling for ‘respect’ to be given to the beloved character.
One fan wrote: “It just feels wrong that this is the final scene of not only Arkham Batman but also Kevin Conroy as Batman. I’d be more OK with this if it wasn’t either of these versions but the fact that it is BOTH of these iconic Batman’s feels like a slap in the face.”
Another commented: “Makes absolute no sense as to why or how Batman even spared the Suicide Squad.”
While a third penned: “Even if Kevin Conroy hadn’t passed away, this still would have been the most disrespectful way to send off Arkham Batman.”
And someone else added: “Harley killing off the guy who kept sparing her throughout the Arkham series and saying he causes mental and emotional damages like Batman’s the real villain was beyond disrespectful.”
However, it’s been reported that this isn’t the last time fans will get to hear Conroy’s voice as, according to IGN, his vocals will feature in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3 which is expected to be released later this year.
While the choice to kill off the character was clearly a controversial move, the game also left many early release players disappointed after it ‘had to be taken offline’ due to a bug which was found within the game play.
Rocksteady Studios eventually re-released the game after several hours of maintenance with no concerns for future game play.
