Celebrities are often the subjects of some truly outrageous rumors based on their fame, and that includes Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. They’re both so open and honest in interviews that it leads people to make conclusions about who they must be. Although some wild stories are totally true, such as Kristen allowing their daughters to order nonalcoholic beers when they go out to dinner or the fact that their kids don’t bathe frequently, others aren’t true at all. Because both Kristen and Dax are so brutally honest, even their jokes can be taken as truth. That’s why people think the couple might engage in a swinger lifestyle.

The couple is notorious for putting it all out there.
Kristen was recently a guest on Dax’s podcast, Armchair Expert, and during their conversation, they talked about some of the wildest stories they’ve heard about themselves.
“There was one that said we hosted orgies or swingers parties,” Dax said.
It wasn’t hard for them to figure out how the rumor started.
Kristen immediately knew where the stories came from.
“It’s because you frequently make key party jokes,” she told her husband. “We’ll have a dinner party or something, and as we’re sitting down, you’ll say, ‘Everybody leave your keys.'”

Dax had no problem admitting to the joke.
Dax did admit that he has made that joke in the past — including on his own podcast!
“Some of them, I realize afterwards, ‘Oh, we do not have the same sense of humor.’ I was like ‘Hey, if you guys are ever in L.A. and you wanna swing …'” he said.

As celebrities, they have to be especially careful about what they say.
Whether you’re famous or not, everyone has a different sense of humor, so not every joke is going to land.
But when someone makes being radically open and honest a part of their brand the way Dax and Kristen have, people are going to take what they say a lot more seriously — even the jokes.
Kristen tried to offer an explanation.
“A lot of people don’t get jokes,” she said. “That’s actually something I have been thinking about lately, because it’s such a bummer that everything you say has to be taken so literally that there’s no room for fun in expression or language anymore when you’re telling a story, because you better have the facts right.”
Maybe next time, they’ll make sure they’re a bit more obvious when they’re just kidding around.
