John Goodman’s Battle with Depression and Drinking Habit Sparks Concern Among Fans

John Goodman is famous for his roles in the TV show Roseanne and the movie The Big Lebowski. In the 1980s, he was in movies like Big River, Raising Arizona, and Antony and Cleopatra. But it was his role as Dan Conner in Roseanne that made him a star quickly.

Goodman said he liked playing Dan because he’s like many guys he knows – a regular working man who isn’t dumb but smart.

Besides TV and movies, Goodman has also used his voice in shows like American Dad!, The Simpsons, and movies like Cars, The Princess and the Frog, and The Emperor’s New Groove.

Goodman never really wanted to be famous, he just wanted to act. Fame made him a bit nervous because he’s a shy person. He used to be able to go about without people recognizing him, but that changed.

There were times when he couldn’t find work, and this led to drinking problems. Unfortunately, this drinking caused depression and other mental health issues for him.

Goodman remembers drinking during the filming of Roseanne. At first, it was exciting, but then it got scary when he lost his privacy. After eight years, he wanted to leave the show, but instead, he sat in bars, which made things worse. He was diagnosed with depression in 2007 and went to rehab that year. Thankfully, he’s been sober ever since.

Goodman describes his depression as a chemical problem in the brain that makes him unhappy with everything.

To stay healthy, Goodman also lost a lot of weight. There were rumors that he had surgery, but he said he did it with a fitness expert named Mackie Shilstone.

Goodman lost more than 100 pounds, but it took a long time. Shilstone said Goodman used the Mediterranean diet, which is mainly plant-based with less red meat, lots of fruits and veggies, and olive oil.

In addition to a better diet, Goodman exercised six days a week.
